Looks like Gaga fans are in for a double treat!
Not only is she dropping her first single from her seventh studio album next month, but she’s also unveiling ‘Harlequin,’ the soundtrack for the upcoming film ‘Joker: Folie et Deux’, starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix.
‘Harlequin’ lands on September 27, featuring 13 tantalizing tracks.
In the days leading up to the announcement, Gaga teased her fans with Instagram posts like, ‘I’m ready for my interview,’ and another stating, ‘Don’t tell me what to wear.’
A third post featured the sound of a single plucking guitar string, declaring, ‘No duct tape. No mission.’
Earlier this week, she also promoted the album with billboards displaying the number ‘6.5,’ suggesting she doesn't view this as a complete studio album, in contrast to her upcoming project referred to as ‘LG7.’
Fans are buzzing with excitement following the announcement of the pop star's back-to-back releases. One fan declared, ‘You are the greatest pop artist of the generation,’ while another exclaimed, ‘We are ready!’
More about ‘Joker 2’
Lady Gaga takes on the role of Harleen Quinzel in the musical sequel to the blockbuster DC drama Joker.
Discussing the film with Vogue, the pop star shared, ‘I wrote a waltz for the movie, accompanied by live piano player Alex Smith, who I invited to be with me during my scenes. There are moments in the film where I portray an adult woman singing like a little girl, navigating the world with a certain immaturity, which I found intriguing.’
Joker: Folie à Deux premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, receiving a standing ovation. Videos online captured the audience erupting in applause, cheering for both Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. During the prolonged ovation, the actors were seen engaging in a heartfelt conversation.
This sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker unfolds after the events of the first movie, featuring Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker, who is in an asylum awaiting trial.
As the plot develops, he encounters his true love and manages to escape. The film also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Zazie Beetz in pivotal roles.
The original Joker premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Golden Lion and earned Joaquin Phoenix the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance.
