Legendary activist and actor Jim Brown passes away at the age of 87

Jim Brown, the NFL's legendary athlete who left to focus on the civil rights movement and a career in Hollywood, passed away on Friday. The news was shared by Jim's former team members and his wife Monique Brown. She took to instagram and wrote, 'It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown.He passed peacefully last night at our Los Angeles home. To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken…'

The sole team Cleveland Browns, tweeted, 'Jim Brown Forever.'

'Legend. Leader. Activist. Visionary.'

'We mourn his passing, but celebrate the indelible light he brought to the world.'

'Our hearts are with Jim’s family, loved ones, and all those he impacted along the way.'
Jim appeared in more than 50 films and television projects. He was last seen in 'Draft Day' which was released in the year 2014.

Earlier this year, the NFL renamed its annual league rushing title award as the Jim Brown Award, to honour the legacy of Brown's remarkable career.
