Jim Brown, the NFL's legendary athlete who left to focus on the civil rights movement and a career in Hollywood, passed away on Friday. The news was shared by Jim's former team members and his wife Monique Brown. She took to instagram and wrote, 'It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jim Brown.He passed peacefully last night at our Los Angeles home. To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star. To our family, he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken…'

Jim appeared in more than 50 films and television projects. He was last seen in 'Draft Day' which was released in the year 2014.
Earlier this year, the NFL renamed its annual league rushing title award as the Jim Brown Award, to honour the legacy of Brown's remarkable career.
