Marvel has announced the cast for its much-anticipated reboot of Fantastic Four via a Valentine’s card. The film, about a quartet of superheroes with different powers, will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards AKA Mr Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby will play his girlfriend, Sue Storm AKA Invisible Woman.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be Ben Grimm AKA The Thing and Joseph Quinn will be Johnny Storm AKA The Human Torch.
Sharing the news Marvel Studios wrote, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family! Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four. Marvel Studios' #TheFantasticFour, in theaters July 25, 2025.’
Originally, the movie was planned to be released in May. But now, its premiere date has been switched with Thunderbolts.
The action film is scheduled to be released in theatres on July 25, 2025.
Although many details about the film are being kept secret for now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige referred to Fantastic Four as ‘a big pillar for MCU’ last year, according to Entertainment Weekly.
‘Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics. There's certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that's something that is really exciting for us,’ Feige told the outlet.
‘People will start to hear more about that soon. We plan on that being a big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they've been in the comics for 50 or 60 years,’ Feige added.
‘The Fantastic Four’ will be directed by Matt Shakman, primarily recognized for his work in television, including episodes of ‘WandaVision’, ‘Succession’, and ‘The Great’. It is created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for Marvel Studio.
The announcement follows the release of The Marvels at the end of 2023, which became Marvel's least successful installment in its cinematic universe in terms of box office revenue.
