Matthew Perry’s memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big terrible Thing’ is grabbing headlines before its release as it makes some interesting revelations about the actor’s life. However, an excerpt from the book in which Matthew takes a dig at his fellow actor Keanu Reeves, hasn’t gone down well with the readers.
According to Variety, the actor in his book wrote, `The list of geniuses who were ahead of their time is too long to detail here — suffice to say, near the top of any such list should be my costar in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, River Phoenix.` `River was a beautiful man, inside and out — too beautiful for this world, it turned out. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?’
Perry also talked about the death of Chris Farley in his memoir and wrote, `I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us. I had to promote Almost Heroes two weeks after he died; I found myself publicly discussing his death from drugs and alcohol. I was high the entire time.`
The readers criticised him for his statement on Reeves. Referring to backlash, Matthew has now apologised for his words. The actor issued a statement where he explained that he chose a random name. He apologised and added that he should have chosen his own name instead. According to Deadline, he said, ` I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologise. I should have used my own name instead.’
In his memoir, Matthew Perry also discloses why he had to exit from the movie after his heart wa frozen for nearly five minutes. He also talked about the period when he got addicted and how he got rid of that habit and about his break up with beautiful Julia Roberts.
