Actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson has revealed his endorsement for the 2024 election in a candid video captured by TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport. Known for his conservative views, the ‘Braveheart’ star didn't shy away from expressing his criticism of Kamala Harris while clarifying his political allegiance.
When asked about his voting choice in the upcoming presidential race, Gibson stated, ‘I don't think it's gonna surprise anyone who I vote for,’ hinting at his preference for Donald Trump. He confirmed, ‘I think that's a pretty good guess’ when pressed further about the former president.
Shifting focus to Harris, Gibson delivered a scathing critique, asserting, ‘I know what it'll be like if we let her in. That ain't good.’ He lambasted her qualifications and intelligence, stating, ‘A miserable track record, an appalling track record, no policies to speak of, and she's got the IQ of a fence post.’
Gibson's endorsement of Trump isn't surprising; the ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ director has been a long-time conservative supporter, even seen socializing with Trump at a UFC event in Las Vegas last year. While his comments about Harris are likely to incite backlash, they contribute to a growing list of celebrities backing Trump for a second term, including actors Dennis Quaid, Jon Voight, and Zachary Levi, as well as musicians like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean, and sports figures such as Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell.
In contrast, much of Hollywood continues to rally behind Kamala Harris, with numerous stars and industry insiders supporting her campaign.
Gibson's outspoken criticism of Harris and endorsement of Trump further distinguish him from the majority of his peers in the entertainment industry, reflecting his history of politically charged commentary.
