The 2022 MTV European Music Awards were held in Dusseldorf, Germany, on November 13 and it was hosted by Taika Waititi and Rita Ora. Popular Korean band BTS bagged the Biggest Fans Award at the event. This is the fifth consecutive year the band has won this award.
BTS was also nominated for the Best K-pop category this year, but BLACKPINK’s Lisa won that award for her solo album ‘Lalisa’.
BLACKPINK also bagged the Best Metaverse Performance Award. With this achievement, BLACKPINK emerged as the first K-pop female artist to win two trophies at the MTV EMA.
South Korean boyband SEVENTEEN won two awards- Best New Artist and the award for Best Push.
Taylor Swift emerged as the big winner at Sunday’s MTV EMAs. She won four awards- The Best Artist, Best Video, Best Pop and Best Longform video for ‘All Too Well’ (Taylor’s Version).
The singer-songwriter made a surprise appearance at the event to collect her award and while accepting her first award of the night she said ‘the fans are the only reason any of this happens for me’.
