MTV VMAs 2024: Top 10 highlights from the biggest night of music awards

The MTV VMAs witnessed several electrifying performances and some unforgettable moments. Most of the awards were won by female artists. Here are top 10 moments of the 2024 MTV VMAs in case you missed it. 

1- Taylor Swift proved it’s her era. The pop queen took home the ‘Video of the Year’ award for ‘Fortnight,’ surpassing Beyonce’s record of most MTV VMA wins. 

2- While Taylor was breaking records, her adorable shout-out to boyfriend Travis Kelce is breaking the internet.  

3- Megan Thee Stallion proved why she is a star. The hot girl took on host duties, performed some of her bop songs and took home the award for ‘Best Art Direction’.

4- Sabrina Carpenter cemented her ‘Princess of Pop’ position. She won the ‘Song of the Year’ for ‘Espresso’, ‘tasted’ an alien and got the audience singing along to her hit summer songs.  

5- Beside her music, Sabrina Carpenter made heads turn with her stunning ‘Madonna’ outfit.  

6- Chappell Roan bagged the ‘Best New Artist’ VMA, her first one and dedicated it to the drag artists and her LGBTQ fans.

7- The rising singer also made headlines as she schooled a photographer who was being rude on the red carpet.  

8- Katy Perry won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and gave a stellar music video like performance leaving many jaws dropped. 

9- Tyla won ‘Best Afrobeats’ for her song 'Water'. In her special message she said that African music is very diverse, much more than just Afrobeats and gave a shoutout to her fellow singers and rappers. 

10- Lisa from Blackpink emerged as the ‘Rockstar’ of K-pop. She won the ‘Best K-pop Award’ and performed ‘New Woman’ and her other hit songs.
