Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh has made headlines once again for all the right reasons. Adding another feather to her cap, Michelle Yeoh was bestowed with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President Joe Biden gave away the medals to 19 people including civil rights icons such as the late Medgar Evers, prominent political leaders such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep.
Michelle Yeoh made history last year by becoming the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in “ Everything, Everywhere All at Once.” This year she has added another feather to her cap.
The actor shared pictures from the big moment on Instagram.
The 10 men and nine women who were given the medals hailed from the worlds of politics, sports, entertainment, civil rights and LGBTQ advocacy, science and religion. Three medals were awarded posthumously.
Michelle Yeoh began her career starring in martial arts action movies, notably 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'. She has also been a part of many films like 'Tomorrow Never Dies', 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' and Kenneth Branagh’s 'A Haunting in Venice.' Yeoh also stars in the first Star Trek TV movie, 'Section 31,' which recently wrapped filming.
In 2023, she received the Kering Women in Motion Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
