Hollywood star Tom Cruise is set to have a prominent role in the August 11 closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He might skydive to the Hollywood Sign during the handoff to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics. TMZ reports that the stunt was quietly filmed in March.

Cruise has attended various events at the Paris games, including women's gymnastics qualifiers and swimming competitions. He told Reuters, ‘It’s awesome. Great stories, great athletes. It’s incredible what they achieve, the sense of accomplishment.’

Although details of Tom Cruise's epic stunt for the Closing Ceremony remain under wraps, a reliable source indicated that the audience can ‘expect a major Hollywood production.’ It is known that Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo will pass the Olympic flag to LA Mayor Karen Bass.

TMZ, the first to report on Cruise’s involvement in the closing gala, revealed that the actor might rappel from the top of Stade de France, landing on the stadium field with the Olympic flag. With logistics for the French portion of the stunt still being finalized, sources suggest Cruise may use a stunt double for the landing.

The TV broadcast will likely feature a pre-recorded segment showcasing Cruise's journey with the Olympic flag as he flies from France to Los Angeles, culminating in a skydive to the Hollywood sign.

According to TMZ’s sources, Cruise initiated the discussions for this grand presentation by approaching the International Olympic Committee and proposing a series of stunts to connect the Paris and LA Games. The beloved actor previously carried the Olympic torch through Los Angeles in 2004 before the Athens Summer Olympics.

The Paris Games’ opening ceremony on July 26, which featured a performance by Lady Gaga, drag queens, and global athletes sailing down the River Seine, received mixed reviews.
