It's happening! After a long sabbatical, Director James Bobin will be back with the ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ series and casting is currently underway.
The creator, Rick Riordan, has been roped in to co-write the pilot and produce the series. Leading entertainment OTT platform, Disney+ has acquired the rights of the series. Announcing the news, the platform shared a message from Rick Riordan on its official handle. The social media post stated the 'work is in progress' and that the audience will soon be treated with the series in Disney+.
The series will be based on the first book (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief) from the eponymous book series by Rick Riordan which was published in 2005. The plot follows the tale of a 12-year-old Percy Jackson, who discovers he is the son of Poseidon, right when he enters a camp for demigods.
The series then follows Percy as he comes to terms with his incredible abilities and discovers a whole new world of gods, monsters, and the like.
