Oscars producer Will Packer said that Los Angeles police were ready to arrest Will Smith after the actor slapped comedian Chris Rock on the Academy Awards stage.
In his first public comments since the shocking episode that marred Hollywood's most important evening, Will Packer said he had sat with Rock when officers came to speak to him and he declined to file a report.
He further added that Chris was being very dismissive and said that he was 'fine'.
Smith strode from his front row seat on to the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's bald look at the awards ceremony.
Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, an auto-immune disease that results in hair loss. The actor had publicly announced that she was shaving off her head due to the illness.
