Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was arrested in New York City on September 16, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. The music mogul's arrest followed a grand jury indictment, but the exact charges remain unclear.
‘We are disappointed by the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,’ said Marc Agnifilo, Combs' attorney, to THR.
‘Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and dedicated philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building an empire, raising his children, and supporting the Black community. While he is not perfect, he is not a criminal. Mr. Combs has fully cooperated with the investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. We urge people to withhold judgment until all the facts are revealed. These are the actions of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,’ the attorney added.
Combs' arrest follows ongoing legal challenges, including a recent sexual assault lawsuit filed by his former bandmate, Dawn Richard, last week. Richard accused him of battery, false imprisonment, withholding millions in unpaid royalties and wages, and stealing her copyrighted works.
Her complaint is the eighth against Combs since his ex-girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit last year, alleging years of physical and sexual abuse. Though that case was swiftly settled, other accusers—Liza Gardner, Joi Dickerson-Neal, and Crystal McKinney—have since come forward with similar claims. Combs has denied the allegations, dismissing them as attempts to secure payouts.
Additionally, in March, federal authorities raided Diddy’s homes in connection with a human trafficking investigation.
