Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother, Janice Small Combs, has publicly defended her son amid the ongoing legal troubles, including accusations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
In a statement released through her attorney, Natlie G. Figgers, on behalf of the Combs family, she acknowledged that while Diddy, like everyone, has made mistakes in the past, he is not guilty of the allegations against him.
‘It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,’ she said in the statement, which was shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
‘To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence,’ she said.
The statement from Janice Small Combs, mother of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, came just five days after it was announced that he would face lawsuits from 120 additional accusers, adding to the dozen he was already confronting.
Attorney Tony Buzbee revealed he represents several men and women alleging sex crimes against Combs dating back to 1991, with many claiming they were raped after being drugged.
These new allegations follow nearly a year after Combs settled a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who accused him of rape and abuse.
While he denied the allegations, a video emerged in May showing him physically assaulting her in a hotel, leading him to express remorse shortly after.
In her statement, Janice acknowledged that her son had lied about some incidents but offered insight into why.
She emphasized that lying does not equate to guilt regarding the ‘repulsive allegations’ against him. Janice expressed distress over the jokes aimed at her son and the rush to judgment without hearing his side.
She believes many accusations stem from a desire for financial gain following the Cassie settlement, arguing that false allegations undermine true victims of sexual violence and have inflicted unbearable injustice on their family.
Combs was arrested in mid-September and denied bail for sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
