Toronto police reported that a security guard was shot outside Drake's home on May 7. Suspects in a vehicle shot the guard at the corner of the Park Lane Circle mansion around 02:00 EDT (06:00 GMT) on May 7 before fleeing. Police stated the man sustained a gunshot wound to the upper chest, indicating a drive-by shooting.

It's unclear if Drake was home or a target.

‘We are in contact with his team and they are cooperating,’ Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force told reporters. ‘It is too early in the investigation to speak about a motive’, he added.

The police are currently assessing the video that captures the shooting but aren't releasing information about it due to video quality issues.

This incident coincides with Drake’s ongoing feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.

Tammie Sutherland, a CityNews Toronto anchor, shared pictures of the scene on X, formerly Twitter, along with the message- ‘A look at the scene surrounding the home of rapper Drake as police investigate a shooting in the upscale area. Police confirm to@CityNewsTO that Drake was NOT the man injured.’

Reports indicate that Drake's property is now under police surveillance following the incident. The street outside his mansion has been cordoned off with 'Do Not Cross' signs.

Drake vs Lamar

Recently, Drake has been in the spotlight due to his ongoing feud with Lamar. Lamar's diss track alleges that Drake has a secret daughter and portrays him as a gambling and drug addict. This incident raises concerns about the attention on Drake's mansion, which is prominently featured in Lamar's track ‘Not Like Us.’

No connection has been found between the shooting and the rapper's rap feud as of now.
