‘Squid Game’ director Hwang Dong Hyuk recently spoke at a Netflix-hosted congratulatory press conference in Seoul, where he revealed that there will be no known Hollywood actor in Season 2.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the second season of the survival drama series and there many questions around the casting.
Hwang Dong Hyuk told Variety, ‘That's not in the plan and if the stage changes, maybe in Season 3 – but for Season 2, it is still set in Korea.’ Although he did hint that he would personally like to see Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a big fan of the cult series, in his show. He said, ‘Leonardo DiCaprio did say he's a big fan of ‘Squid Game,’ so maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games.’
Last year, Leonardo DiCaprio had a surprising fanboy moment when he met Emmy winning actor Lee Jung Jae. The latter shared a selfie of them on his Instagram.
According to Pinkvilla, Hwang Dong Hyuk also revealed that shooting for ‘Squid Game Season 2’ will begin in 2023 and it release on Netflix in 2024. He said that there have been amendments in the production budgets.
