While all eyes were on the 96th Academy awards, Taylor Swift was among the stars who gave it a miss to the prestigious awards ceremony. Even though Swifties were disappointment with their favourite pop singer’s absence, Taylor had her reasons for not being able to attend the night celebrating cinema.
The global star has just wrapped her Singapore Eras tour on Saturday. To attend the Oscars night, it would have taken her around 15 hours to travel to Los Angeles. Besides, there have also been concerns about Taylor Swift’s health after videos of her battling coughing fits on stage went viral.
After six sold-out shows, the ‘Blank Space’ singer wrapped up the last leg of her ‘Eras Tour’ in Singapore. The pop singer will take a break for a while before resuming her concerts in May in Paris. In the meantime, she will focus on her next album ‘The Tortured Poets Department ’. Addressing her fans, she wrote in a post, “We got to play 6 shows in Singapore for the most wonderful crowds - just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who traveled and put so much effort into being at our shows. What an unforgettable way to end this leg of the tour!! See you in May when we get back to the Eras Tour!! In the meantime I’ve got an album to release…”
Despite Taylor’s absence, her fans did get a ‘Taylor’ moment at Oscars when Emma Stone used the pop singer’s song title in her acceptance speech. Emma, who won the ‘Best Actress’ award for ‘Poor Things’ gave a shout out to her daughter by using Swift’s song title. “And, most importantly, my daughter, who’s gonna be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl,” she said. Swifties were thrilled and overwhelmed with Taylor’s reference at Oscars with many of the fans taking to X to express their joy.
