Special CBI Court in Mumbai has given its final verdict in the Jiah Khan suicide case after 10 years. Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was accused of abetment to suicide, has been acquitted in the case. According to Times of India, the court gave him the clean chit, citing a lack of evidence. Court also informed Jiah's mother Rabia Khan of her right to appeal against the order.
In 2015, a letter allegedly written by Jiah was found that described her relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. Jiah's mother had accused him and his family of ‘abusing’ her daughter.
Mumbai Police had arrested Sooraj for abetting the suicide and he was later released on bail. In 2013, Jiah's mother moved to the Bombay High Court, seeking to transfer the probe to CBI.
Jiah Khan, who was seen in films like ‘Housefull’, ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Nishabd’, was found dead at her home in Mumbai on June 3, 2013.
