Indian films are making waves at the North American box office. Prabhas starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and Diljit Dosanjh’s romantic comedy ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’ have entered the top 10 weekend performers, according to Deadline.

Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ touted as the most expensive Indian film to date, secured the number 5 spot, earning $5.4 million over the weekend in North America. Its total has reached $11 million, including earnings from Wednesday previews and Thursday’s opening day, marking the biggest opening for an Indian film in North America. The film’s first footage was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in 2023.

‘Jatt & Juliet 3,’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, earned $1.8 million over the weekend, placing it at number 9 and bringing its total to $1.9 million at the North American box office. Diljit’s Coachella performance and his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon have boosted his US popularity.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’, released on June 27, stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles.

The epic science fiction film has reportedly surpassed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office.

According to Sacnilk.com, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ earned approximately Rs 85 Cr India on June 30. This has resulted in the film earning Rs 302 crore in its opening weekend in India.

Telugu screenings contributed the most to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’s overall box office collection. The Telugu version recorded a collection of Rs 162.1 Cr, Tamil version collected Rs 18.3 Cr, Hindi recorded a collection of Rs 110.5 Cr, Malayalam version collected Rs 9.7 Cr and Kannada version recorded Rs 1.8 Cr collection by the end of the opening weekend.

As per Sacnilk, ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’ earned Rs 3.5 crore on its first day. It witnessed a slight increase on the second day, earning Rs 3.6 crore, and it jumped to Rs 4.15 crore on the third day. The total collection over the first three days reached Rs 11.25 crore.
