Nag Ashwin’s highly anticipated sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, is set to be released on June 27, 2024. The makers unveiled the trailer launch date with a new poster days before its premiere.

Sharing the poster, Prabhas wrote, ‘Unveiling the future. #Kalki2898AD Trailer on June 10th!’

The poster features Prabhas' character Bhairava in futuristic attire against the backdrop of his village. It also offers a glimpse of a new location called 'Complex,' as seen in the animated prelude 'B&B: Bujji and Bhairava,' available on Prime Video.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Prabhas discussed 'Kalki 2898 AD,' describing it as a film ‘made for international audiences.’

He emphasized its high budget and top-tier cast, stating, ‘We've got the best actors in the country.’

Regarding his status as a pan-Indian star, he noted, ‘We were hearing for the first time people calling me 'pan-Indian.' That doesn't really affect me, but it's a good feeling to think that people around the country like me now.’

Directed by Nag Ashwin, known for the National Award-winning 2018 biographical drama Mahanati, Kalki 2898 – AD marks the first collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Prabhas. While Deepika and Amitabh Bachchan have previously co-starred in the 2015 film Piku, they will also appear together in the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film The Intern, originally starring Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro.

Nag Ashwin previously discussed the film's timeline at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, revealing that it starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. Spanning 6000 years, the film aims to create imaginative worlds while maintaining an Indian aesthetic, distinct from Blade Runner. The film's beginning in 3102 BC coincides with the passing of the last avatar of Krishna.
