Kate Middleton attends King Charles’ birthday parade in London, seen in a carriage with her children

After a seven-month long battle with cancer, Princess of Wales made her first public appearance today. Kate Middleton attended King Charles’ birthday parade in Central London.  

Kate Middleton makes public appearance 

Kate travelled in a horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham Palace with her three children Prince George, 10; Princess Charlotte, 9; and Prince Louis, who is 6 — before watching the ceremony from a building beside the parade ground. The Princess of Wales smiled brightly during her first public appearance post the cancer diagnosis. 

Kate shared health update on Friday 

Earlier on Friday, the Princess of Wales said that she is “making good progress” in her cancer treatment and will attend King Charles III's ceremonial birthday parade on Saturday. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate said in a statement released on Friday, adding that she faces “a few more months” of treatment. “I'm looking forward to attending The King's Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said. 

About King’s birthday parade  

Trooping the Colour, also known as the King's Birthday Parade, is an annual military parade that marks the monarch's official birthday in June. Troops in full dress uniform parade past the king with their ceremonial flag, or “colour”. 

About Kate Middleton’s cancer diagonsis 

The 42-year-old princess in March this year, revealed that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. Princess of Wales appealed for her family to have time, space and privacy when she announced her diagnosis of an undisclosed form of cancer. She said she had begun chemotherapy.  Her announcement in March came after speculation proliferated on social media about her well-being and absence from public view.
