Jin, singer, songwriter and member of the popular K-pop band BTS, turned 30 on December 4. Before enlisting for the mandatory military service in South Korea, Jin celebrated his special day with a sweet and short live session on their Weverse community page. BTS Army was surprised as his fellow groupmate Jimin joined him too.

At the beginning of the video, Jin talks about his close friend Jungkook and jokingly complains that he didn’t visit him on his birthday while he did the same for him earlier. He then went on to cut his birthday cakes, but before doing the honours, he urged everyone watching his live to sing the happy birthday song with him.

Jimin dropped in a comment during the live session and asked him what he wants for his birthday. To which Jin replied, ‘We decided to not give each other birthday gifts~ it’s a lot giving 7 gifts a year. So Jimin-ah, there’s nothing you need to buy! I have everything!’

Jimin responded to Jin and said, ‘The gift is my heart.’

Jin also revealed that his friends gave him a birthday surprise. He added J-Hope was the first one to wish him on social media and he also sang his song ‘Astronaut’ in an improvised manner.

Jin will join the military service on December 13. BTS' agency BigHit Music announced in October that all BTS members will fulfil their mandatory military service before reconvening around 2025.
