BTS member Jin has been keeping a busy schedule following his discharge from the South Korean military. After teasing fans with pictures from inside the studio, hinting at his new album, the K-pop star was seen heading to Paris on Thursday (July 11) morning, to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Torch Relay. BigHit Music, BTS' label, announced on June 2 that Jin will serve as South Korea's torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. His role in the Olympic torch relay aims to promote messages of “harmony” and “peace,” according to the official statement.
Jin departed from Incheon International Airport this morning for France. At the airport, the K-pop idol was greeted by an army of fans and media persons. The viral clip from the airport shows the 'Astronaut' singing bowing down at every step as he made his way inside the airport. Dressed casually in a white t-shirt and beige pants, the K-pop superstar was seen radiating his superstar charm.
While the singer has yet to make an official announcement, speculations are rife that KSJ1 is coming sooner than expected. With Jin dropping pictures from his studio every other day, fans may get his comeback by the end of this year. In an exclusive interview with Weverse Magazine, Jin revealed plans for his solo album project. He mentioned, "I realised I shouldn't wait too long to release mine after others have finished theirs, so I'm working quickly to get it completed." Jin is the only BTS member who has not released his solo album yet. His only solo release so far is his single 'The Astronaut,' which came out in October 2022.
Jin recently wrapped up his mandatory military service and commemorated this significant moment by reuniting with his BTS bandmates, all of whom took leaves from their soldier duties to celebrate this milestone together.
The Paris Summer Olympics will kick off on July 26. The torch relay, which commenced in April in Olympia, Greece, will span 64 regions in France, encompassing city centres and coastal areas, culminating on the day of the opening ceremony. Jin's appointment as a torchbearer for one of the world's largest sporting events highlights BTS' unique growing global influence, despite their ongoing military service.
