Popular K-pop group BTS is going on a temporary hiatus as RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook start military service on December 11 and 12.
Before their departure, RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, shared heartfelt sentiments in a letter, acknowledging mixed emotions but remaining optimistic about the upcoming 18-month service.
In his letter, RM expressed gratitude for his decade with the group. He stated that ‘End is also a beginning’, anticipating positive experiences upon their return.
RM also reflected on the experiences of fellow members Seokjin Hyung (Jin) and Hoseok (J-Hope), who underwent this process earlier.
He wrote, ‘Though I’m scared and fearful as well, what could be more comforting than the fact that there is something to anticipate and look forward to during this uncertain time?’
RM acknowledged fans' love as a solace and envisioned an unbroken bond despite physical distance. Closing with a temporary farewell, Namjoon assured fans it's just a ‘little while.’
Expressing optimism for a future reunion, RM conveyed love and gratitude to the ARMY, hoping his sentiments would reach them.
Meanwhile, V, also known as Kim Taehyung, who is scheduled to commence his military service alongside RM, expressed his sentiments on the South Korean microblogging platform Weverse. He wrote, ‘I think I will miss you all. I love you so much. Let’s wait till 2025 to meet again and make new memories.’
