BTS eldest member Jin is back from military and the world wide handsome singer is making sure to treat the ARMY on regular basis. Besides the constant updates on social media, Jin gave an interview to Weverse magazine and shared anecdotes from his military service experience.
Speaking to Weverse Magazine, Jin talked about his popularity in the military and revealed that he was referred to as ‘God’ in his squad. He said, “I spent way more than my military salary to buy food for others. Those kids have just turned twenty or are starting to prepare for the real world. Compared to them, I have more financial freedom and feel they should be able to eat delicious food and be healthy, so I bought them food.”
Jin shared how he would treat members of his unit as well as other units to dinner. He said, “I bought them so much chicken, jokbal, and pizza that they got sick of it. I would take soldiers from other units to barbeque. Sometimes they joked, ‘Sergeant Kim, did you do anything other than sleep today?’ And then I’d say, ‘What barracks are you from? I was going to buy you dinner tonight but not anymore. You’re not coming with me!’ Then they’d say, ‘Sorry sir!’ We’d joke around like that, but I’d still take them out to eat. It feels funny saying it myself, but I was known as the ‘God,’ and as soon as they saw me, they’d say, ‘Worship him!’”
Jin also talked about the only time he lost his cool on a soldier. The South Korean star said, “I’ve been in the entertainment industry for 10 years already, and there’s still tons I don’t know. I make mistakes- everybody does. There was only one time I lost my temper. One soldier did something wrong but kept joking around and saying, “I’ll figure it out myself, sir’ and I told him, ‘It’s okay if you make mistakes. It’s not like I know everything. I make mistakes, too. But if a senior soldier tells you to do something, you have to at least pretend to listen. You can’t keep goofing around like that. I get it- everyone's different. But you at least have to figure out why you made that mistake. I’ll tell you how to do it one more time, so don’t mess around anymore’.” The BTS star also talked about his military discharge day when some of the members of his unit cried.
BTS singer Jin recently returned after completing his mandatory military service. He hosted an in-person fan event, where he held a free hug event for thousand lucky fans, on the BTS’ debut anniversary. The singer also sang his hits and performed on Jungkook’s ‘Seven’.
