BLACKPINK's Jennie and boyband Stray Kids were the K-pop representatives at the Met Gala 2024. While Jennie was in attendance at the charity gala last year, Stray Kids became the first K-pop group to have all members walk the Met Gala on the 2024 red carpet.
Jennie is no stranger to high-profile events, and the Met Monday made for a perfect opportunity for BLACKPINK members to put on a strong display of her impeccable fashion sense. The singer brought her superstar charm in a custom-made Alaïa blue mini-dress with an asymmetrical cut-out over her belly. Also featuring a high-neck neckline and long train, she paired the royal number with stiletto heels that matched her flirty ensemble. She completed the appearance with a neat ponytail, a gold belly chain, and pearl earrings, perfectly aligning with the elemental theme of the "Garden of Time" dress code.
The eight-member boy group (comprised of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N.) opted for custom Tommy Hilfiger ensembles featuring the brand’s signature red, white, and blue colour palette with rich gold accents. The boy group started the night in sleek overcoats before revealing their final look.
In an interview on the red carpet with Vogue, the group’s leader, Bang Chan, praised Hilfiger for scripting the night. “We’re stoked to be here, and if it wasn’t for Tommy, we would not be here,” Bang Chan said. “Thank you to Tommy for inviting us, all eight of us,” he added. Hilfiger praised the group right back. “They are as modern as you can get,” he said. “They are modern prep, and they’re global superstars.”
On the work front, Jennie launched her solo label 'Odd ATELIER' but decided to stay associated with her agency YG Entertainment for the group activities with BLACKPINK. Shedding some light on her solo journey Jennie said, "I wanted to do group activities with the company I had been with for seven years, but I wanted to be freer and more comfortable in my individual activities, so I carefully founded a company called OA. I will work with the crew I have been with for a long time. I wanted to be able to do all my activities freely. "
Stray Kids will collaborate with American singer-composer Charlie Puth for their single 'Lose My Breath', slated to release on May 10. The group recently released their OST
'WHY?', their first Japanese OST.
