‘Queen of Tears’ has surpassed ‘Goblin’ to become tvN's second-highest-rated K-drama ever. The show, starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, has been celebrated by fans for its ongoing success, achieving its highest viewership ratings yet with episode 12 hitting an average nationwide rating of 20.7 percent, surpassing 20 percent for the first time.

Until now, only two Korean dramas, 'Crash Landing on You' and 'Goblin,' had surpassed the 20 percent ratings mark in the broadcaster's history. It is yet to be seen if Kim Soo Hyun's drama can surpass the record set by Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin's "Crash Landing on You," which achieved a nationwide average of 21.7 percent for its finale in 2020.

On April 13, ‘Queen of Tears’, which had previously surpassed the classic ‘Reply 1988’ to become the third highest-rated K-drama in the broadcaster's history, took the top spot in its time slot. It achieved an average nationwide rating of 16.8 percent. Ratings on April 13 are typically lower compared to April 14 due to time zone differences, as many viewers prefer to watch two episodes in a row rather than wait for another the next day.

About ‘Queen of Tears’

‘Queen of Tears’ revolves around the married couple Baek Hyun Woo and Hong Hae In. The show will conclude its regular run on April 28. However, it was announced on April 8 that two special episodes would air on May 4th and 5th, likely due to the show's popularity. According to a Korean news outlet, ‘Details regarding the format and appearances of the main actors are currently under discussion.’

KBS 2TV's new romantic drama ‘Beauty and Mr. Romantic’ is earning praise, achieving an average nationwide rating of 16.8 percent for its latest episode. Meanwhile, JTBC's ‘Hide’ is gaining popularity, with an average nationwide rating of 4.7 percent. However, EXO Suho’s ‘Missing Crown Prince’ has not performed well, only managing a 1.1 percent rating for its second episode.
