'On your marks. Get set. Greenlight,' season two of the popular Korean thriller series 'Squid Game' has been officially announced by Netflix. The streaming platform unveiled a short teaser that featured the animatronic doll which was a prominent part of the show's maiden season.
Netflix also posted a note by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show's writer, director, producer, and creator, who thanked all the fans for 'watching and loving the show.' He mentioned that it took 12 years to bring season one of 'Squid Game' to life but it took only 12 days for it to become the most popular Netflix series ever.

Hwang further announced the return of Gi-hun and The Front Man. He added that the man in the suit with ddakji might be back and fans will also be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su.
The season 2 of the show is expected to release late 2023 or early in 2024.
'Squid Game' is about desperate people competing in deadly games for a large sum of money. Released in 2021, the show went on to become the most-watched Netflix original worldwide.
At the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards, the show became the first non-English series to score a nomination and actors Lee Jung-jae and Ho-yeon won top honours. 'Squid Game' also won three Golden Globe Awards, including best TV drama
