BTS eldest member Jin scripted history by becoming South Korea’s official torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Jin kicked off the Olympic torch relay amid loud cheers from fans at the Louvre Pyramid Museum in Paris.
Jin made history as the first Korean singer to carry the Olympic Torch overseas. The BTS star warmy greeted the crowd and waved before the torch relay amid tight security. The world wide handsome singer ran 200 metres and received thunderous cheers from his devoted fanbase. Several photos and videos from Paris have taken over the internet. BTS fans could be seen gathered at the venue, waiting to get a glimpse of the K-pop star ahead of the torch relay.
Ahead of the ceremony, organisers played Jin’s song ‘Super Tuna’, leaving the singer as well as fans surprised. Jin got shy and couldn’t stop laughing as he heard his viral song being played. He joined his fans in grooving to the beats. Fans on social media gushed over Jin’s reaction and expressed pride on his achievement. Several videos of the singer were shared by the fans accounts.
Jin expressed his gratitude in a video message after the torch relay event. He said, “I’m very honoured to participate in the torch relay today. I sincerely thank ARMYs and all the fans for giving me the chance to carry the torch.”
Jin’s participation in the Olympics torch relay was facilitated by Samsung Electronics, which is an official sponsor of the prestigious event. BTS have been associated with the brand since 2020, promoting their Galaxy S20 Series and Galaxy Fold smartphones.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from Jully 27 to August 11. The games will feature over 15,000 athletes from 206 countries.
Jin completed his military service and was discharged on June 12. The singer has kept himself busy since then. He hosted a hug event for a thousand lucky fans on their band’s debut anniversary and also performed some of their hit tracks. The singer is making sure to update the fans on his recent activities and revealed that he has been filming variety shows. He will be seen in MBC’s adventure variety show ‘Half-Star Hotel in Lost Island’ as a guest worker. Jin is expected to release his solo debut album towards the end of 2024.
