When BTS’s Jungkook dropped the remix of Standing Next to You last year, fans went wild, especially with whispers of an Usher collab.
Sure enough, Usher jumped on the remix, sparking hopes of a Super Bowl halftime duet!
But despite the buzz, Jungkook had to decline Usher's offer to perform at the big event.
Why? According to Billboard, Jungkook’s mandatory military service had him stepping back from the Super Bowl spotlight. Guess fans will have to wait a little longer for that dream stage!
Korean fans were left disappointed by the news, calling it a missed golden opportunity for Jungkook, according to Koreaboo.
Meanwhile, Usher lit up the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show with an electrifying 11-song medley, showcasing his musical legacy. Now, anticipation is building for who will take the stage at the 2025 Super Bowl.
Jungkook’s year has been quite eventful as well. His solo journey is highlighted in the newly released documentary Jung Kook: I Am Still, presented by PVRINOX Pictures in India. The film offers a behind-the-scenes look at his evolution from BTS’s global fame to crafting his own unique identity as a solo artist. Released in India on September 21 and 22, just two days after its South Korean premiere, the documentary captures the intense eight-month process of creating his solo album Golden, giving fans an intimate view of his personal and artistic growth.
Golden remained on the Billboard 200 for an impressive 24 consecutive weeks, and viewers of Jung Kook: I Am Still were treated to exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, personal interviews, and concert footage. These glimpses highlighted Jungkook's passion and dedication to his solo career.
Currently, Jungkook is serving in the South Korean military alongside Jimin, as part of the military's buddy system. Both enlisted on December 12, 2023, and are expected to complete their service and return by September of next year.
