Ace director Sriram Raghavan has outdone himself yet again with the Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Merry Christmas'. Hailed as one of the best psychological thrillers of recent times, the film has received rave reviews not only from fans but also from industry insiders. The latest to shower praise on the film is filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Anurag Kashyap took to his Instagram account to laud 'Merry Christmas', writing, "I love this film... @sriram.raghavanofficial has never known to play safe, and this time has come a hitchcockian love story with two actors belonging to different cultures and them coming together on Christmas Eve. He again does new things and creates a slow burn with a terrific payoff."

Merry Christmas box office collection
Despite ensembling Bollywood and Tollywood's biggest superstars, Katrina Kaif and Anurag Kashyap, the film received a lukewarm response at the box office on the opening weekend. The thriller opened at ₹2.45 crore nett in all languages on Friday. After a strong word of mouth, the film saw a slight boost on Saturday, raking in Rs 3.75 crore in India. On Day 3, it managed to record Rs 3.50, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 9.65 crore.
About Merry Christmas
In a media interaction, director S. Raghavan admitted that both the Tamil and Hindi versions of Merry Christmas have different endings. He also revealed that the film has been adapted from a book but refrained from sharing its title. The film has been shot in two languages, with different supporting casts. Starring in the Hindi version are Pratima Kannan, Vinay Pathak, Sanjay Kapoor, and Tinnu Anand. However, Rajesh Williams, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Radhika Sarathkumar play the same parts in the Tamil version. The movie narrates the tale of how two people's worlds are turned upside down on an ordinary Christmas Eve.
