Mumbai police on Tuesday recreated the crime scene involving the knife attack on actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. The accused, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, was brought to the site as part of the investigation.
A team of 20 officers arrived at the Satguru Sharan building around 5:30 am in four police vans. They spent an hour on the premises, retracing the events leading up to and following the attack.
The accused, a Bangladeshi national staying in India illegally under the alias Vijay Das, was arrested on Sunday in Thane. After the crime scene recreation, police took him to Bandra railway station, where he boarded a train to Dadar after the attack, and to an area outside a garden where he had slept while evading capture.
Khan, 54, was repeatedly stabbed inside his 12th-floor apartment on January 16, resulting in surgery. Following the investigation, the accused was taken back to Bandra police station for further questioning.
The Bandra metropolitan magistrate's court has remanded the accused in five-day police custody as the investigation continues.
