Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer 'RRR' grabbed attention once more at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Though not nominated, SS Rajamouli's epic was featured in the Oscars montage, showcasing the visuals of 'Naatu Naatu'.

During the Best Original Song award presentation, the song played on the big screen as Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo announced the winner. Surprisingly, the Academy also acknowledged 'RRR's stunning climax action sequence.

‘Naatu Naatu’ at Oscars

The song had previously made history by winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2023.

During this special moment, music director MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose accepted the award and delivered a speech on stage. This year, attention shifted to the pan-India film, although the spotlight rightfully belongs to Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, who won in their category for the song ‘What Was I Made For?’ from Barbie. The official Instagram page of the movie celebrated the moment with the caption, ‘Back on the Oscars stage again.’

At Oscars 2024, attention was also given to the often-overlooked heroes of cinema: the stunt coordinators. In a special tribute led by nominated actors Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, the crucial role of stunt coordinators was emphasized. The montage included action sequences from iconic films, with the scene from ‘RRR’ particularly capturing the internet's interest. The pan-India film's climactic scene, showcasing remarkable high-octane action, stood out from the rest.

‘RRR’ swept the last award season, beginning with the Critics Choice Awards, where it clinched both the Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song awards for ‘Naatu Naatu’. The song continued its international acclaim by winning Best Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, culminating in its major victory at the Oscars.
