'Parineeta' director Pradeep Sarkar dies: Hansal Mehta, Manoj Bajpayee, and others pay tributes

Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, who helmed movies like ‘Parineeta’, ‘Laga Chunari Mein Daag’, ‘Mardaani’ and ‘Helicopter Eela’, passed away at 3.30 am on March 24. According to Times of India, he was on dialysis and his potassium levels had dropped drastically. His last rites will be held at a crematorium in Santacruz at 4 pm today.

Pradeep Sarkar's film industry colleagues took to social media to pay tributes.

Actor Neetu Chandra confirmed the news of the director’s demise to Times of India and revealed she received a text informing her of his passing. Neetu said that Pradeep Sarkar was her first director, they first worked together in an advertisement for a footwear brand while she was still in college.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to Twitter and shared a picture of Pradeep. He wrote, ‘Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP.’

Sharing Hansal's tweet, actor Manoj Bajpayee wrote, ‘Ohh! That’s so shocking! Rest in peace Dada!! (folded hands emoji).’

Ajay Devgn tweeted, 'The news of Pradeep Sarkar’s demise, ‘Dada’ to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada.'

Besides movies, Pradeep Sarkar also directed several web series such as ‘Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala’ (2019), ‘Arranged Marriage and Forbidden Love’ (2020), and ‘Duranga’ (2022).
