Priyanka Chopra, the Desi Girl who has successfully bridged the gap between Bollywood and Hollywood, recently shared her insights on the key differences between the two industries. Known for her remarkable acting skills, Priyanka has made a significant impact in both realms, proving her versatility as an actress.

In a candid conversation with Forbes India, Priyanka discussed her experience navigating the contrasting work cultures of Hollywood and Bollywood. She highlighted that while every country has its own cultural nuances, the most notable difference is the organizational structure in Hollywood.

‘Hollywood has a lot of paperwork,’ she explained, noting the extensive communication that occurs behind the scenes. ‘You get 100 emails before the next day, and timings are very specific. It depends on what time you wrapped the night before. There’s no room to play unless you’re working with a filmmaker who allows that. It is really tight and very organized.’

In contrast, Priyanka described Bollywood as having a more improvisational spirit, often characterized by ‘jugaad,’ a term that signifies a resourceful and flexible approach to problem-solving.

She stated, ‘We are a little romantic. We have a lot more ‘jugaad’ and get stuff done. It’s like, ‘Arey ho jayega, kar lenge’ — we can make it happen.’

This creative, less rigid way of working reflects the unique cultural identity of India, she added.

When asked if she misses this more spontaneous side of Bollywood, Priyanka replied, ‘No. I miss dancing and singing and speaking in Hindi. I miss slow-motion dancing and I miss speaking another language.’

Her longing for the Bollywood vibe is evident, and she is open to making a comeback.

Regarding her return to Bollywood, Priyanka expressed, ‘I’m telling everyone… come to me with something right. I’ve been assessing a lot of scripts and I hope to lock something in soon.’

Her fans eagerly await her next move after her recent appearance in the romantic comedy Love Again, alongside Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. She is also set to star in Heads of State with John Cena and Idris Elba, with Citadel 2 in the pipeline.
