Global icon Priyanka Chopra, in a recent interview, opened up about what it means to be a mother and shared that she wants her daughter Malti to be in her ‘safe space’ and pursue her dreams without constraints.
‘I think children are not born to us, they are born through us to have their own lives. And that’s how my parents raised me and my mom raised me. And, you know, she always said that I’m your safe space. That’s what I want to be for Malti, her safe space and let her do whatever she wants,’ Priyanka told India Today.
Priyanka Chopra tied the knot with singer-actor Nick Jonas in December 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas via surrogacy in January 2022.
In a recent interview with Quint Neon, Priyanka Chopra was asked about balancing work and motherhood. She shared that being raised by a working woman herself has greatly helped her in taking care of her daughter, Malti.
‘I was raised by a working mom and my mom’s sisters were working moms. Even the moms who are not working (hold a job) are working all day. Working women don’t get enough credit… you have to surround yourself with a village, you have to make sure that you find a supportive partner. I have so many people around my daughter, but I still feel guilty when I go to the set,’ Priyanka said.
Furthermore, Priyanka shared that she takes Malti to the set with her, which helps her daughter understand the nature of her work. However, the actress also revealed what Malti thinks about her work, saying, ‘My daughter thinks I do make-believe for a living.’
Priyanka Chopra was recently seen in the romantic drama ‘Love Again,’ co-starring Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. Her upcoming film, the action-comedy ‘Heads of State,’ features Idris Elba and John Cena. Additionally, she will star in Frank E Flowers' film, ‘The Bluff,’ alongside Karl Urban.
Priyanka Chopra also has a Bollywood project in the works. She is set to appear in Farhan Akhtar's ‘Jee Lee Zara,’ alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. While fans eagerly await this collaboration, the film has been delayed for reasons unknown.
