After taking Bollywood by storm, Akshay Kumar is now ready to shake up Tollywood. The actor has onboarded Vishnu Manchu starrer 'Kannappa'. Directed by Mukesh Singh, the fantasy drama is rooted in the realms of Indian mythology. Akshay will reportedly join the cast after the release of his upcoming film, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' co-starring Tiger Shroff.
Industry expert Ramesh Bala announced on X that Akshay is set to make his Tollywood debut with 'Kannappa'. He wrote, “Bollywood Superstar @akshaykumar joins the cast of Prestigious Pan-India Biggie - Actor @iVishnuManchu's Big Budget movie #Kannappa. After #Prabhas, @Mohanlal, @PDdancing and @realsarathkumar - @akshaykumar is one more grand addition to the movie's cast. Stay tuned for more exciting updates..(sic).
The star-studded cast of Kannappa includes Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Nayanthara, and Madhubala, among others. The music of the film will be composed by Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma, while Sheldon Chau and Anthony will look after cinematography and editing, respectively. With the creative input of Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Burra Sai Madhav, and Thota Prasad, the film has been backed by 24 Frames Factory and Ava Entertainment.
Akshay is currently busy promoting his upcoming film 'Bade Miyan' Chose Miyan'. His upcoming projects include, 'Welcome 3,' 'Hera Pheri 4' and 'Housefull 5'.
Recently, speaking with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, the actor expressed concern over the lack of comedy films in Bollywood. He said, “Abhi aa jayega. Yeh saal, agle saal tak kaafi comedy films aa jayengi. Do-teen toh main hi kar raha hoon." When asked about his projects, Akshay said, “Main kar raha hoon. Welcome kar raha hoon, Housefull kar raha hoon, phir shayad Heri Pheri bhi karoonga."
