Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is finally in theatres, and if the box office projections are anything to go by, the Prabhas starrer has blockbuster written all over it. The film also starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, have been bankrolled by Vyjayanthi movies. In a surprise to fans, the film ends with a 'to be continued...' confirming that a sequel is on the cards.
While Nag Ashwim in a chat session a day before film's release categorically discussed the possibility of a sequel, it has now been confirmed that a second instalment is definitely in the making. Earlybirdies who went to watch the movie in theatres have taken to social media to share that the film ends with a line that said “To Be Continued…” indicating that there will be a sequel. Earlier, director Nag Ashwin had talked about how mythology blended with action can never be completed in one go and definitely needs a second part.
While makers have yet to share the details about the second part, director Ashwin had earlier disclosed that it may take him three years to come up with the forthcoming instalment. A media report has also suggested that 'Kalki 2898 AD' Part 2 will see Kamal Haasan's character take on supreme challenges to complete his dangerous mission. The story will be based on how Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) and Bhairava (Prabhas) aim to tackle him.
Nag Ashwin’s directorial is a blockbuster as far as the advance booking collection is concerned. The film sold over two million tickets for over 23,562 shows across India. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ also marked the highest advance ticket sales in 2024 in Hindi language. It also beat RRR to score biggest premiere for an Indian film in North America as per industry tracker Sacnilk.com.
