Megastar Rajinikanth is celebrating his 73rd birthday and on the occasion, many celebrities have extended their best wishes to him on social media. Indian cinema stalwart Kamal Haasan penned a moving note for his close friend on X, wishing him a happy and successful life ‘today and forever’.

Several fans reacted to the post and called the friendship between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan the ‘best’.

Last month, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan ran into each other at a studio, while filming their respective films, 'Thalaivar170' and 'Indian 2', in Chennai. The duo took time out of their shoot schedule to pose for photos. The photos were shared by production house Lyca Productions on X, previously known as Twitter.

"The 2 unparalleled LEGENDS of Indian Cinema ‘Ulaganayagan’ @ikamalhaasan &’Superstar’ @rajinikanth sharing a lighter moment while shooting for their respective films Indian-2 & Thalaivar170 in the same studio after 21 years!  And we @LycaProductions are super happy & proud to be producing both the films!" the production house tweeted.

Many other stars have also wished Rajnikanth, including singer, actor, and son-in-law Dhanush, and singer-composer Anirudh Ravichander.

Rajnikanth, born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, has had an illustrious career spanning over five decades, including 169 films and counting, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, and Malayalam. He is beloved by fans worldwide, and affectionately known as 'Thalaivar' (meaning ‘leader’ or ‘champion’ in Tamil).

His 2010 film, 'Enthiran' was released worldwide as Robot. He co-starred with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa in the film, which won several accolades, including two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, seven Vijay Awards, and two Screen Awards, thoroughly permeated meme culture (the popular meme template ‘This is beyond science’ is a still from Enthiran’s sequel 2.0), and put Indian film and culture on the map long before S.S. Rajamouli's 'RRR' dominated the conversation about cinema worldwide.
