Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman is once again making headlines for reviving the voices of the late singers Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed using Artificial Intelligence (AI). This innovative approach was employed for the song 'Thimiri Yezhuda' in Rajinikanth's 'Lal Salaam'. Rahman shared that he obtained consent from their families and compensated them accordingly.

The composer wrote, ‘We took permission from their families and sent deserving remuneration for using their voice algorithms...technology is not a threat and a nuisance if we use it right...#respect #nostalgia (sic).’

Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed shared a close collaboration with AR Rahman, producing numerous blockbuster songs. Unfortunately, Shahul Hameed lost his life in a car accident back in 1997, while Bamba Bakya passed away due to a cardiac arrest in 2022.

AR RAHMAN'S AI USE LEAVES INTERNET DIVIDED

This development has sparked a mixed reaction on the Internet.

AR Rahman received accolades from one group of people for obtaining permission and compensating the families of the late singers, while another group criticized the move, calling it 'unethical'.

AR Rahman is eagerly anticipating the release of 'Lal Salaam,' directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, which is scheduled to hit theatres on February 9th.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth's 'Lal Salaam' is a sports drama that stars Vikranth and Vishnu Vishal in the lead roles. Rajinikanth will make an extended cameo appearance in the movie, which is aimed at promoting religious harmony.

The recent audio launch event in Chennai for the film was met with enthusiasm from both ardent Tamil cinema fans and music enthusiasts.

AR Rahman, an esteemed Academy Award recipient, is renowned for constantly pushing the boundaries of musical creativity. In 'Lal Salaam,' he once again showcases his dedication to innovation by seamlessly blending the legacy of late singers with the capabilities offered by artificial intelligence.

This artistic decision not only underscores Rahman's avant-garde approach but also imbues an additional layer of emotion and nostalgia into the musical tapestry of 'Lal Salaam.' Rahman's use of AI to resurrect the voices of Bamba Bakya and Shahul Hameed is poised to captivate audiences, setting a remarkable precedent for the convergence of technology and artistic expression in the vibrant realm of Tamil cinema.
