Police case against Kannada actor Upendra over alleged casteist remark

Popular Kannada actor Upendra is facing a police case after make an alleged casteist remark during a livestream on social media.

Bengaluru police registered a case under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after receiving a complaint on August 13.

The comments were made on August 12, during a Facebook and Instagram live to mark the anniversary of Upendra's political outfit Prajaakeeya.

Following uproar, Upendra deleted the live video and issued an apology.
