‘Kantara’s actor-director Rishab Shetty and its producer, Vijay Krigandur Ahad, appeared before Kozhikode Deputy Commissioner of Police, K.E. Baiju, on Sunday after the Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to them on February 9. They have given their statements before the police after a complaint was filed by the Kerala-based music band Thaikoodam Bridge claiming that a song in the movie was a product of the band and that the makers did not acknowledge that.
The band said the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ was actually plagiarised from their song ‘Navarasam’. However, ‘Kantara’s music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath rejected the allegations stating that the similarities were due to the same ‘Raga’ used in both songs.
Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ released on Amazon Prime Video on November 24 and changes were made to the song ‘Varaha Roopam’, owing to the legal matter. The song was short-changed as Thaikudam Bridge sought a legal action against the makers for allegedly copying its song ‘Navarasam,’ released over five years ago.
