Veteran Tollywood actor Krishna, who had suffered a cardiac arrest, passed away in Hyderabad this morning. He was brought to the emergency department of the Continental Hospital on Monday in an unconscious state and was revived within 20 minutes after CPR was performed by doctors.
Krishna’s condition was said to be critical and he was being treated on a ventilator. Krishna, originally Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, had acted in more than 300 films in his three-decade-long illustrious career. Krishna’s last on-screen outing was in 2016 with the Telugu film, ‘Sri Sri’. He was also a renowned director and producer.
Krishna was honored with Padma Bhushan in 2009.
Krishna had joined the Congress in the 1980s but quit politics after former PM Rajiv Gandhi's death.
Krishna’s first wife and Mahesh Babu’s mother Indira Devi died in October after suffering from a prolonged illness. His elder son Ramesh Babu died in January this year. Actor Vijaya Nirmala, his second wife, had died in 2019.
