Comedian Tanmay Bhat’s official YouTube channel, with over 44 lakh subscribers, was hacked and renamed as the ‘Tesla Corp’. The hackers also deleted videos listed on his account.
Taking to Twitter, Bhat revealed that his Gmail account had also been hacked. He further said that hackers breached the two-factor authentication. He has sought assistance from Google and YouTube.
Urging YouTube to take swift action, Bhat also revealed that the hackers had initiated a livestream video on his YouTube channel, which is now set as a private video.
He tweeted, ‘@TeamYouTube, my channel is hacked and a live stream has begun. Please help!’
Many other prominent YouTubers, including stand-up comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj and YouTuber Abdu Rozik, have reportedly also faced similar hacking incidents.
In all the cases, the hackers have changed the names of the YouTube channels to Tesla and replaced the display pictures with Tesla's logo. They have also replaced the cover photos of the YouTube channels with images of Tesla cars.
All these YouTube accounts are still not recovered.
A while back, journalist Barkha Dutt's YouTube channel, named ‘Mojo Story,’ was also hacked, and all the videos were deleted from the account. However, her account has now been restored, and all the videos are once again available on the platform.
