Fans of ‘House of the Dragon’ were hit with a major setback when significant portions of the Season 2 finale leaked online just five days before its scheduled release on August 4.

A TikTok account uploaded nearly 30 minutes of footage from the highly anticipated episode.

Despite swift removal efforts, duplicate clips quickly spread across social media. Fans hoping to avoid spoilers are advised to be cautious and mute relevant hashtags.

The TikTok account posted 14 videos from the Season 2 finale, each receiving thousands of views, according to Variety.

This isn’t the series' first leak issue. A similar incident happened during Season 1, leading to speculation about a breach in the distribution chain. The final episode of Season 1 was also leaked online two days before its October 2022 premiere, with the leak traced to a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa, according to HBO.

Regarding the episode leak that occurred on Tuesday, HBO has not yet identified the exact source but confirmed it came from an "international third-party distributor." HBO is actively working to remove the leaked content.

‘We are aware that clips from the House of the Dragon season finale have surfaced across social media. These clips were posted following an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor. HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet. Fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max,’ stated an HBO spokesperson, as reported by IGN.

House of the Dragon Season 2 premiered in June, diving back into the intense family drama. The new season picks up shortly after the first season’s finale, where Rhaenyra Targaryen’s claim to the throne was overlooked in favor of her half-brother Aegon, leading to the murder of her son Lucerys by his uncle Aemond. Set 200 years before Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon aims to replicate its predecessor’s grandeur with epic battles and action sequences.
