A host of European leaders and top French officials rushed into isolation on Thursday after President Emmanuel Macron tested positive for Covid-19. In the week preceding Macron’s diagnosis, he attended a European Council summit in Brussels with the leaders of the other 26 EU countries. The Prime Ministers of Spain, Belgium and Portugal announced that were self-isolating within hours of the news of Macron's test. Macron became the latest world leader to contract Covid-19, following the likes of British PM Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump. Macron will now self isolate for seven days in accordance with national regulations, his office said.
