Wembley erupted with joy on Wednesday night as England edged past Denmark 2-1 to stage a final showdown with Italy at Euro 2020. With that, they also broke their jinx of having not made to the final of a major tournament in 55 years.
Mikkel Damsgaard stunned London when he put Denmark ahead in the 30th minute with a brilliant free kick. But Denmark captain Simon Kjaer's error gifted England an equaliser with 6 minutes to go for half-time. Nothing separated the 2 sides then till the stipulated time and the game went into extra time. Skipper Harry Kane once again rose to the occasion and made no mistake in converting from the spot in the 103rd minute.
It proved to be the winner as the Three Lions won a European Championship knockout game after coming from behind for the first time.
