Former interim CBI chief M Nageswara Rao has earned ire of several netizens after he called Swami Agnivesh's death 'good riddance' on Twitter. The former officer further added that Swami Agnivesh was an anti-Hindu in saffron robes who did enormous damage to Hinduism.
The priest and activist died on Friday from liver ailment.
Reacting to his tweet, activist Harsh Mander said it was sad to see an officer flaunting uncivility towards a man who has just died. Historian Irfan Habib called Rao a disgrace and said abusing the dead maybe Hindutva but it is not Hinduism. Police think-tank and senior police officers too condemned Rao's post.
The ex-CBI chief also got lessons in Hinduism from netizens who said that Hinduism is about being a good person and that even Lord Ram did not rejoice Ravana's death.
