Social media services Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are back after an outage that lasted almost six hours, Facebook, which owns all the three services, has said.
Users globally reported an outage on these platforms on Monday evening. Users posted messages on Twitter saying the popular social networking and communication platforms were inaccessible around 9 pm Indian time.
Website monitoring group Downdetector said it was the largest failure it had ever seen with 10.6 million problem reported around the world.
The last time Facebook had a disruption of this magnitude was in 2019. Facebook tweeted its apologies to those affected by the outage.
While users couldn't send or receive messages on WhatsApp, Instagram showed ‘couldn't refresh the feed.’ Similarly, the Facebook page took forever to load.
A message on the Facebook website read ‘something went wrong’ and work is on to get it fixed soon
WhatsApp issued statement on their official Twitter handle saying it is 'working to get things back to normal and will send an update as soon as possible'.
