Fake Covid vaccine camps in Mumbai: 7 FIRs, 8 held, police say people likely got saline water

Mumbai police has filed seven FIRs and arrested eight people so far after news of Covid vaccination scams in Mumbai broke last week. The accused include a woman who shared the username/password of a CoWIN account to generate vaccination certificates. The accused have been charged with attempt to commit culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Around 2,000 people have fallen victim to 'fake Covid vaccination camps' in Mumbai. Police said scammed citizens were likely injected with saline, or salt water.

On Tuesday the Bombay High Court asked the BMC to find out what was in the vials used by the accused and also carry out authorised and certified vaccinations for all victims
