One of the most important Hindu festivals for married women, Karwa Chauth is being celebrated on October 24 this year.

We all know that women and sometimes, men celebrate the 1-day festival by keeping fast to pray for long life and wellbeing of their spouse.

But did you know that not drinking even a drop of water the entire day means you must ensure that you're breaking your fast properly in order to not compromise your health! Here are few items you should add to your plate when you break your chauth ka vrat

Before you start with solids, it's a great idea to break your fast with some fluids. You can drink some lemon water which is loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C.

Coconut water is another excellent choice of fluid. It will instantly give you the much-needed energy after a long day.

Eating nothing all day can really drop your sugar levels. Make sure to eat some fruits to bring your sugar intake back to speed with natural sugars that do not overpower your body.

Adding some green leafy vegetables to your plate will make sure you get essential vitamins including vitamin K, A and E as well as key minerals like manganese, calcium and iron.

Last but definitely not the least, don't forget to have a handful of almonds or any other nuts and seeds of your choice. Almonds are not just loaded with nutrients but also can make you feel satiated and prevent overeating.
